Legal and Regulatory Counsel (Fintech)

hirify.global provides financial infrastructure for the energy transition, financing residential solar, batteries, and heat pumps through installers across five EU markets.

What you will do

• Serve as the first legal and regulatory hire and establish how legal, compliance, and regulatory work is managed.
• Own commercial, corporate, employment, governance, dispute, policy, and risk matters.
• Draft and negotiate installer, partner, customer, funding, receivables, and lender agreements.
• Lead licensing strategy, applications, regulatory analysis, and market-entry work across Europe and other markets.
• Build compliance, policy, governance, and contract-management frameworks from the ground up.
• Select and manage external counsel, report to the CEO/CFO, and hire a legal analyst within 6–12 months.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience in regulated financial services, such as consumer credit, lending, payments, or fintech, including in-house experience.
• Principal-level experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including ownership of redlines, fallback positions, and final decisions.
• Experience building regulatory frameworks, preparing applications, and defending positions before regulators, auditors, or lenders.
• Ability and willingness to hold a named regulatory officeholder role where required.
• Must be based in Berlin and comfortable working onsite in an office-first environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English required; English is the working language.

Nice to have

• Professional German at B2 level or above for German-language contracts and work with German counsel and authorities.
• Legal qualification in an EU jurisdiction, England and Wales, or a comparable bar.
