Senior Software Engineer (AI & Data Platforms)

Location: Hybrid in Irvine or Los Angeles, California, United States

Base compensation: $150,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Modernize Magnus Java applications, REST APIs, and Goliath’s browser-based JavaScript/jQuery frontend.
• Develop and support backend capabilities using Java and Go.
• Build production AI features and integrations using LLMs, tool calling, guardrails, evaluation, and MCP.
• Integrate Magnus and Goliath with BigQuery, MySQL, GCP services, and internal APIs.
• Diagnose and resolve application, workflow, database, performance, and production issues.
• Own projects from technical proposal and implementation through deployment, testing, code review, and production support.

Requirements

• Senior-level, hands-on full-stack software engineering experience.
• Experience developing Java and Go backend services and browser-based JavaScript applications.
• Ability to work with production systems, REST APIs, databases, workflows, and automated tests.
• Experience owning software delivery from design through deployment and ongoing support.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Irvine or Los Angeles, California.

Nice to have

• MCP server/client development and AI agent or tool-calling architectures.
• GCP, BigQuery, Docker, Kubernetes, or GKE.
• MySQL performance optimization and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Python, Java 8, Tomcat, JSP, CodeMirror, or Chart.js.
• Experience modernizing mature applications while maintaining production stability.
