TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer - Architectural Elements (Robotics) (NX/Teamcenter): Designing, prototyping, testing, and releasing mechanical subsystems for robotic warehouse automation with an accent on manufacturability, maintenance, and production scaling. Focus on motion control mechanisms, design-for-manufacture and assembly, reliability analysis, verification, and coordinating engineering work across teams and contract manufacturers.

Location: Redwood City, United States; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 annually

What you will do

  • Generate subsystem requirements from internal and external customer inputs.
  • Design, prototype, test, verify, and release mechanical components and systems.
  • Use NX and Teamcenter to create product designs, 2D drawings, simulations, and release documentation.
  • Develop bills of material, assembly drawings, maintenance instructions, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Perform reliability, DFM/A, cost-reduction, tolerance, and failure-avoidance analyses.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts, collaborate with operations and contract manufacturers, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 8+ years of related experience taking advanced designs from concept through scale production.
  • Significant 3D CAD experience, preferably NX, including 2D drawings and simulations.
  • Experience designing motion-control systems with sensors, actuators, and complex mechanisms.
  • Working knowledge of ASME and ISO drafting standards, GD&T, DFM/A, statistical tolerance analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, and fault-tree analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate with customers and contract manufacturers, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with electrical design and integration, including cable harnesses and wiring diagrams.
