Tooling Engineer (Nuclear Energy)

Salary: $90,000–$175,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and develop custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures in 3D CAD for rapid prototyping and large-scale production.
• Own the fabrication, assembly, wiring, and validation of tooling, fixtures, and test systems.
• Ensure designs meet safety, ergonomic, and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with machinists, welders, engineers, and technicians to optimize tooling.
• Troubleshoot production tool issues and support reliable manufacturing operations.

Requirements

• Exceptional ability demonstrated through prior projects, a portfolio, or completed products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of tooling or fixture design experience.
• Proficiency in a 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
• Knowledge of GD&T and machining processes.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Nice to have

• Experience in automotive, aerospace, or similarly complex industries requiring custom tooling.
• Knowledge of additive manufacturing for rapid tooling.
• Experience in a fast-paced, highly technical, or entrepreneurial engineering environment.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and ergonomic design.
