GNC Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Fully remote; role is listed in Hawthorne, California. Some travel may be required, including on-site field testing and interviews.

Salary: $130,000–$235,000 per year.

What you will do

• Define GNC subsystem and algorithm requirements for lunar rover operations.
• Design, develop, tune, analyze, verify, and validate GNC algorithms for crewed and autonomous vehicles.
• Develop GNC simulations, analysis plans, test plans, and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
• Select, characterize, calibrate, and test sensors including IMUs, star trackers, cameras, and LiDARs.
• Convert algorithm prototypes into flight software and support unit, integration, vehicle, and field testing.
• Collaborate with avionics, vehicle software, mobility, and integration teams to mature and validate the GNC subsystem.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field or equivalent education and experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience developing Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems.
• Experience with Python and familiarity with C++.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to technical documentation and communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with path planning, obstacle avoidance, or similar algorithms.
• Experience designing, tuning, and testing Extended Kalman Filters and vehicle control algorithms.
• Experience building and validating GNC simulation tools and performing Monte Carlo performance analysis.
• Experience taking GNC systems from initial concept through flight operations.
