Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from Brazil or Colombia

What you will do

• Design, build, and own complex integrations connecting hospitals, clinics, and EHR systems to the platform.
• Analyze complex, undocumented systems and create clear technical models from first principles.
• Own production services, write runbooks, follow up on incidents, and take responsibility for shipped work.
• Mentor engineers through meaningful code reviews and clear technical explanations.
• Read source code, contribute patches, and build thoughtfully on open-source software.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Python, REST API design, GraphQL API design, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Strong backend fundamentals, including queues, asynchronous patterns, error handling, and observability.
• Ability to read and reason about React and Next.js code and design APIs with the consumer developer experience in mind.
• Comfort with ambiguity, direct communication, intellectual curiosity, and constructive technical debate.

Nice to have

• Kubernetes, GCP, Redis, BullMQ, Docker, or ArgoCD.
• Pulumi or other infrastructure-as-code tools, Linkerd or service mesh, Kafka, Pub/Sub, or Firestore.
