Commercial Legal Domain Expert (AI)

What you will do

• Explain real commercial legal workflows, including intake, matter management, document review, escalation, approvals, signing, and post-close follow-up.
• Advise product managers and engineers on commercial agreements, risk assessment, negotiation strategy, legal operations, and institutional legal knowledge.
• Review product concepts and AI-generated outputs such as summaries, issue identification, clause classifications, redline recommendations, obligation extraction, and precedent retrieval.
• Develop evaluation rubrics, benchmark examples, and high-quality ground-truth data for AI training and evaluation.
• Provide structured feedback on product accuracy, completeness, confidence, edge cases, and usefulness in time-sensitive legal workflows.
• Occasionally support customer discovery sessions when legal expertise is needed to clarify requirements or validate workflows.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• Qualification or admission as a lawyer in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of legal experience preferred, with hands-on experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial or transactional agreements.
• Experience as an in-house lawyer, senior associate, legal consultant, or transactional counsel supporting complex organizations or sophisticated commercial clients.
• Ability to independently identify material contract issues, assess practical risk, explain legal reasoning, and distinguish when additional context or escalation is required.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to engineers, product managers, designers, and other non-lawyers.

Nice to have

• Experience in private equity, investment, M&A, funds, credit, real assets, cross-border transactions, or international commercial agreements.
• Experience with legal AI, contract review software, CLM systems, knowledge-management tools, or AI-assisted drafting products.
• Experience creating legal training materials, review rubrics, model answers, quality-control processes, or expert evaluations.
• Familiarity with iManage, DealCloud, Legora, Spellbook, Ironclad, or similar systems.
• Experience developing contract playbooks, clause libraries, fallback positions, approval frameworks, or post-signing obligation processes.
