Build Reliability Manager (Space Manufacturing)

Location: Hawthorne, California; onsite

Salary: $170,000–$195,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the build-out of the build reliability team.
• Drive process improvement across design, inventory, manufacturing, integration, testing, and inspection.
• Define and document inspection requirements, procedures, planning, and test plans.
• Create training for production and inspection processes and establish reliable data-collection practices as production scales.
• Contain non-conforming hardware with quality, production, and design teams while correcting systemic issues and managing fleet risk.
• Conduct build quality reviews, improve design for manufacturability and requirement fulfillment, and drive corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in quality assurance, build reliability, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering or quality function.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams, technical projects, or engineering initiatives in manufacturing or product development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with quality management tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA, or SPC.
• Familiarity with CAD software, inspection equipment, and statistical analysis tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with space-grade materials and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of environmental testing for space applications.
• Experience implementing quality systems and managing quality-process rollouts in a manufacturing environment.
• Certified Quality Engineer certification or similar.
