Field Engineer (Construction Automation)

Location: On-site at Robot Ranch in Austin, Texas; relocation to Austin is required if not within commuting distance.

What you will do

• Provide technical oversight for excavation, grading, trenching, and other earthworks against digital plans, specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Coordinate on-site equipment, labor, and schedules to maintain project efficiency.
• Train and support operators using automated and remote-controlled earthmoving equipment and proprietary Mission Control.
• Operate excavators, bulldozers, graders, and other heavy equipment at a functional level when needed.
• Monitor and troubleshoot machine control systems and teleoperations, and perform soil compaction and grade verification checks.
• Manage survey layout and staking, maintain daily progress logs, and support demobilization, final inspections, and client handover.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of experience in site preparation or excavation, including field operations and technical coordination.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks construction techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Required functional experience operating heavy equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent field experience may be considered.
• Must be willing to work extended hours or weekends when required by project deadlines or urgent deployment issues.
• Must be willing to relocate to Austin, Texas if not within commuting distance.
