Senior Platform Networking Software Engineer, Systems Engineering

Location: Onsite at the Santa Clara, California office

Salary: $175,000–$263,000 USD annual base salary; the role may also be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and debug high-performance C/C++ networking software for switching and fabric platforms.
• Build Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, including forwarding behavior and control-plane protocols.
• Integrate hardware and software by working with ASIC vendors and implementing switch SDK functionality.
• Support in-service software upgrades and non-disruptive maintenance capabilities.
• Design and customize SONiC-based control-plane and data-plane solutions.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership on architecture, code quality, and complex networking initiatives.

Requirements

• Advanced C/C++ proficiency, including C++11 or later, with experience developing and debugging performance-sensitive systems or networking software.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet, VLANs, BGP, ECMP, and other Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols.
• Experience with switch SDKs or Linux networking internals, including kernel concepts, drivers, or packet processing.
• Understanding of non-disruptive upgrade technologies and high-availability system architecture.
• Ability to independently solve complex technical problems, influence cross-functional direction, and mentor junior engineers.
• Ability to work primarily from the Santa Clara, CA office, except during PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
