High Voltage Electrical Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: Onsite at the corporate headquarters in the Brickell area of Miami, Florida, with travel to data center locations and occasional job-site travel required.

What you will do

• Design high-voltage substations and transmission switchyards from 34.5 kV through 345 kV, from concept to commissioning.
• Develop one-line diagrams, protection philosophies, grounding systems, station layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Prepare engineering calculations and design documents covering short-circuit studies, grounding, lightning protection, cable sizing, station services, layouts, elevations, foundations, steel, and control buildings.
• Specify and coordinate power transformers, gas circuit breakers, disconnect switches, instrument transformers, and protection and control systems.
• Coordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, civil and structural engineers, transmission line engineers, and protection engineers.
• Review vendor drawings and support procurement, factory acceptance testing, construction, commissioning, and energization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of high-voltage substation engineering experience.
• Strong experience designing substations from 34.5 kV through 345 kV, including utility interconnections and transmission systems.
• Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and applicable utility standards.
• Experience with grounding design, protection coordination, and relay applications.
• PE license preferred, or ability to obtain one.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI or hyperscale data centers, battery energy storage systems, or transmission switchyards.
• Experience with substation electrical configurations and gas-insulated or air-insulated substations.
• Experience with ETAP, CDEGS, ASPEN, SKM, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam.
