Clinical Veterinarian

Location: United States - Connecticut - Groton; on-premise work required. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. U.S. visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $116,000–$193,400 annual base salary, plus a 15% bonus target and eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Provide clinical veterinary care for diverse species of research animals and direct veterinary technician activities.
• Support the Attending Veterinarian with animal health oversight, regulatory compliance, and import/export matters.
• Review and consult on research animal proposals for IACUC review, with emphasis on the 3Rs, humane endpoints, and adverse effects.
• Maintain animal care program documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
• Train colleagues in anesthesia, analgesia, and techniques that promote the 3Rs.
• Participate in audits, inspections, animal model development, equipment evaluation, and Comparative Medicine teams; provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis.

Requirements

• DVM or VMD degree and a U.S. veterinary license required.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Experience in laboratory animal medicine, regulatory requirements, preventive health care, clinical care, anesthesia, and analgesia.
• Ability to work on site as essential personnel during emergencies or suspension of operations.
• If working at a site with nonhuman primates, proof of measles immunity or measles vaccination is required before hire.

Nice to have

• ACLAM board certification or another relevant U.S. or equivalent board certification.
