Practice Medical Director

Location: Boston, United States; on-site

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 base salary plus variable compensation; equity and bonus opportunities available.

What you will do

• Diagnose and treat pets, counsel clients, and uphold high standards of veterinary medicine and hospitality.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 1–5 doctors, including clinical skills, performance, client satisfaction, teamwork, and professional growth.
• Partner with medical, talent, operations, nursing, and practice management leadership on recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, coverage, and team collaboration.
• Serve as the clinical point of contact for escalated medical questions and ensure service accessibility aligns with member needs.
• Monitor financial performance and work with leadership to achieve budget and revenue targets.
• Manage controlled substances, practice orders, medical protocols, and compliance with DEA and OSHA requirements.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent, with an active state license and DEA license.
• 5+ years of veterinary experience.
• Experience managing a team and mentoring veterinarians.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional approach to client and team interactions.
