Senior Software Engineer (Geospatial)

Location: Onsite in El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. Persons and eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 USD annually, base salary only.

What you will do

• Architect, design, implement, and own software systems for processing, managing, and distributing large-scale geospatial data, with an emphasis on SAR imagery.
• Build scalable data pipelines, backend services, geospatial visualization tools, and data distribution services.
• Design database architectures, schemas, and data models for geospatial datasets.
• Contribute to service design, system architecture, software infrastructure, and integration of geospatial APIs.
• Collaborate with algorithm developers and data scientists to bring research capabilities into production software.
• Lead code reviews, testing, debugging, performance optimization, documentation, configuration management, and software delivery.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• BS with 5+ years of professional software development experience, or MS with 3+ years, in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• Production-level programming experience in multiple languages, including Python and C++.
• Experience leading software developers through the full software development life cycle and independently architecting large-scale software solutions.
• Academic background or foundational training in physics, advanced Linux development experience, and strong software development practices.
• Exceptional teamwork, organization, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and an advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
• Experience with geospatial processing, remote sensing, SAR or large-scale geospatial datasets, PostGIS, QGIS, and WMS/WFS services.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, containerization, Kubernetes, AWS, Apache Airflow, agentic AI frameworks, or the Model Context Protocol.
