Infrastructure Platform Architect (Defence & Aerospace)

Location: Farnborough, United Kingdom; onsite 5 days per week. Candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including residency requirements; nationality requirements may apply.

What you will do

• Design enterprise infrastructure architectures across compute, storage, networking, virtualisation, and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Lead cloud platform implementation, containerisation, orchestration, legacy migrations, and infrastructure modernisation programmes.
• Define disaster recovery, business continuity, high-availability, scalability, and resilience architectures.
• Establish infrastructure standards, governance frameworks, design patterns, change control processes, and technical documentation.
• Lead infrastructure technical teams, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making while mentoring engineers.
• Engage with senior customer stakeholders and defence programme teams to present recommendations and validate architectures.

Requirements

• Extensive IT infrastructure and infrastructure architecture experience, including enterprise-scale platform design and implementation.
• Strong cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or equivalent, including scaling, hybrid models, and cost optimisation.
• Expertise in virtualisation, storage, SAN/NAS, backup and recovery, networking, SDN, load balancing, and network security architectures.
• Understanding of containerisation, Kubernetes, microservices, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability design patterns.
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or government IT environments and knowledge of security policy, ITAR regulations, Classification Guides, and defence standards.
• Eligibility to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements and the right to work in the United Kingdom.
