TL;DR
Senior Vibrations Engineer (Aerospace): Developing vibration, shock, structural, and dynamic analyses for launch vehicle structures and subsystems with an accent on test data interpretation, sensor instrumentation, and physics-based simulation. Focus on defining vehicle environments, validating finite element models, supporting qualification campaigns, and establishing advanced dynamics and load-derivation methods.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems, including the Neutron launch vehicle.

What you will do

  • Define, process, and interpret static and dynamic ground-test and flight data.
  • Select sensors and determine vibration, shock, acoustic, pressure, thermal, and quasi-static environments.
  • Perform modal, acoustic, random vibration, sine harmonic, and transient dynamic simulations.
  • Define test requirements and support vehicle subsystem testing and qualification campaigns.
  • Perform and document structural analyses, including finite element model validation, material selection, trade-off studies, and mass optimization.
  • Develop dynamics methodologies and tools, conduct peer reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of industry experience, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or marine engineering.
  • Strong physics-based problem-solving approach and experience with vibration and shock testing.
  • Experience selecting sensors, processing data, and interpreting accelerometer, strain-gauge, and thermocouple measurements.
  • Experience with modal characterization, acoustic, random vibration, sine burst, force notching, shock, and fixture evaluation testing.
  • Expertise in engineering programming and data analysis, especially Python, plus finite element modelling and structural analysis using industry-standard FEA packages.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively, and deliver under changing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in vibroacoustic modelling.
  • Familiarity with conventional machining and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with NX CAD and Teamcenter.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on real hardware and space missions designed to expand access to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
  • Collaborative environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and practical problem-solving.
  • Fast-paced work with tight deadlines and a strong emphasis on innovation and execution.
  • For New Zealand roles, background and nationality checks are conducted before employment offers because access to ITAR-regulated equipment and data is required.
