Structures Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Design, analyze, and optimize structural components and systems for next-generation propulsion platforms.
• Use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
• Develop structural layouts, sizing methods, analysis tools, and material allowables for new designs.
• Support design reviews, flight-project testing, studies, proposals, and product integration activities.
• Provide structural engineering guidance to project personnel and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare accurate technical reports for peer review and collaborate with structures, design, flight sciences, and hardware teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of related experience, or 3 years with a master’s degree or 1 year with a PhD.
• Proficiency in statics, solid mechanics, and free-body diagrams.
• Experience with finite element modeling tools such as NX/Nastran, ANSYS, or Abaqus.
• Experience with a 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA V5, or Fusion 360.
• Knowledge of metallic and composite materials manufacturing and programming experience with Python, Julia, VBA, or MATLAB.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of aeroelastics, structural dynamics, rotor blade structural analysis, and optimization.
• Familiarity with HyperX, electric machines, and motors.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machining, composites, 3D printing, prototyping, and mechanical assembly.
• Experience developing workflows with AI tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
