TL;DR
Senior Harness Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, testing, and integrating electrical harness and wiring systems for high-power satellites with an accent on avionics interfaces, spacecraft integration, production drawings, and component selection. Focus on qualifying harness hardware for demanding MEO and GEO missions, reducing mass and cost, and solving manufacturing and reliability challenges for high-rate satellite production.

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year, plus equity

hirify.global is a Series C aerospace startup developing and mass-producing high-power satellite platforms for commercial and U.S. government missions from LEO to deep space.

What you will do

  • Own harness system design for bus avionics, mechanisms, RF systems, and payloads across Mega and Giga satellite platforms.
  • Define avionics box and bulkhead interface control documents, system diagrams, and schematics.
  • Design, analyze, and release harnesses and secondary mounting hardware in CAD and production drawings.
  • Lead design trades for connectors, contacts, wires and cables, shield braid, heaters, RTDs, and related components.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and technicians to resolve in-process issues and improve reliability.
  • Execute development and qualification testing and support spacecraft avionics integration for high-rate production and constellation launches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical harness design, routing, production, and system integration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-velocity startup environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and make collaborative design decisions.
  • Access to ITAR-controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

  • Experience with thermal, thermal-vacuum, vibration, shock, radiation, and EMI/EMC testing for space harnesses.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
  • Experience presenting technical designs in PDR, CDR, and FRR reviews.
  • Experience with NX or similar CAD software, including electrical harness routing.
  • Practical experience with GD&T and FEA.
