Senior Global Category Manager (IT Hardware)

Location: Hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 remote; based at a local office in Guangzhou or Shanghai, China

What you will do

• Manage strategic supplier relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to drive innovation and sourcing initiatives.
• Lead complex regional and global procurement projects across multiple functions and business areas.
• Manage the full sourcing process for strategic outsourcing suppliers, including market analysis, requirements, cost models, negotiations, contracts, and supplier business reviews.
• Develop annual category management plans covering spend analysis, sourcing pipelines, supplier rationalization, process improvements, and sourcing levers.
• Conduct total cost of ownership evaluations, pricing audits, supply-market research, and cost-impact analyses.
• Lead high-stakes negotiations, supplier performance escalation, risk mitigation, and executive-level presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field.
• 12+ years of procurement experience.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, as well as Oracle or similar systems.
• Ability to work from the Guangzhou or Shanghai office on a hybrid 3-days-in-office, 2-days-remote schedule.
• Flexibility to attend or host evening conference calls.
• Availability for 10–25% domestic and international travel.

Nice to have

• MBA.
• Experience with contract manufacturing, JDM, ODM, or OEM outsourcing models.
• Experience with complex cost models, detailed cost analysis, outsourced manufacturing, and cost-saving negotiations.
• Strong familiarity with the IT hardware industry.
• Expertise in high-value contract negotiations, contract compliance, supplier strategy, and supplier performance improvement.
