Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack (React/TypeScript, Elixir)

Location: Onsite near Denver, Colorado, or Long Beach, California

Salary: $185,000–$320,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead large-scale, cross-functional initiatives spanning frontend, backend, infrastructure, and system architecture from technical vision through production deployment.
• Define the full-stack technical roadmap and architectural strategy across React/TypeScript and Elixir codebases.
• Establish API contracts, engineering standards, testing strategies, design systems, and reusable infrastructure for multiple teams and products.
• Identify technical debt, scalability challenges, reliability issues, and architectural limitations, then lead multi-quarter improvement initiatives.
• Partner with product, design, space operations, astrodynamics, and executive leadership to influence product strategy and company direction.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, improve developer experience, and develop technical leaders.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software development experience with expertise across frontend and backend development.
• Expert knowledge of HTML/CSS, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Elixir, and OTP, including runtime performance and internals.
• Experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems with fault tolerance, consistency, availability, clustering, and horizontal scalability.
• Expertise with gRPC, REST, WebSockets, GraphQL, API contracts, database architecture, and full-stack testing strategies.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, migrations, architectural overhauls, code review standards, observability, and incident response.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance; must meet U.S. space technology export authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Experience with Three.js, React Three Fiber, WebGL, shader programming, PostgreSQL internals, replication, and distributed data modeling.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, healthcare, finance, or other highly regulated industries.
• Technical writing, open-source contributions, conference speaking, and advanced UI/UX collaboration experience.
