Staff Engineer (TypeScript/NestJS/React Native)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid with 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $192,000–$264,000 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead technical direction for ambiguous and complex problems through hands-on engineering, design documentation, and mentorship.
• Design and deliver new programs of care, including differentiated features and member workflows.
• Stabilize and scale launched programs by improving reliability, performance, and quality.
• Extend shared services and platform capabilities using NestJS, React Native, PostgreSQL, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Partner with Product and multiple engineering teams to translate program strategy into scalable technical plans and cohesive member experiences.
• Improve engineering practices around CI/CD, testing, monitoring, code review, and technical standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of TypeScript/JavaScript experience across the stack, including Node.js/NestJS and React or React Native.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerization tools.
• 2+ years of experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, distributed systems, and microservices architectures.
• 2+ years of mentoring or leading engineers and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
• Experience operating as a high-influence Staff-level individual contributor without direct reports.

Nice to have

• Direct NestJS experience and mobile application development experience.
• Experience delivering products across several engineering teams.
• Healthcare, HIPAA, or other regulated-industry experience involving sensitive member data.
