Founding Director of Strategic Finance (AI)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area; hybrid

What you will do

• Own the company-wide operating model, including revenue forecasting, headcount planning, expense budgets, and scenario analysis.
• Build and run annual planning, quarterly reforecasts, and monthly variance reviews.
• Manage cash forecasting, treasury operations, runway, burn, and capital planning.
• Develop unit economics for enterprise AI deployments, including contract margins, compute and inference costs, and software versus services mix.
• Prepare board materials, investor updates, KPI reporting, and financial diligence for future fundraises.
• Partner with leadership on pricing, deal structures, contract economics, accounting oversight, and financial systems.

Requirements

• 6+ years of finance experience with deep FP&A or strategic finance experience.
• Experience building operating models used by founders, executives, and boards.
• Experience in a high-growth startup, ideally as an early or first finance hire.
• Fluency in SaaS and enterprise metrics, including ARR, NDR, gross margin, and burn multiple.
• Understanding of enterprise and government contracts, including pilots, milestone-based billing, multi-year agreements, and revenue recognition.
• Hands-on, concise, and highly capable of operating independently while building a finance function from the ground up.
