Location: Tempe, Arizona, or Carlsbad, California; U.S. Citizenship required

Salary: $141,500–$224,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $176,000–$264,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Perform and lead structural, vibration, dynamic, shock, and environmental analyses for satellite structures, mechanisms, electronics packaging, and deployable systems.
  • Own structural verification from concept development through qualification, production, integration, and on-orbit support.
  • Define engineering requirements, specifications, procedures, and qualification plans for structural performance.
  • Lead hardware structural and environmental testing, anomaly resolution, and corrective technical activities.
  • Drive PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRR design reviews and provide technical recommendations to program leadership.
  • Collaborate with systems, thermal, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, reliability, supply chain, quality, and program management teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including significant experience developing and analyzing spaceflight hardware.
  • Experience leading structural analysis and subsystem development for spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, or comparable aerospace systems.
  • Strong knowledge of structural, dynamic, shock, and environmental requirements for space applications.
  • Experience with ANSYS, Nastran, Simcenter, or equivalent engineering analysis tools.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or NX, plus environmental qualification and acceptance testing.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with small satellites, broadband constellations, spacecraft buses, composite structures, lightweight designs, or deployable mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of launch vehicle structural interfaces, spacecraft integration, DFM/DFA, PLM systems, and spaceflight standards.
  • Experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions, and technical leadership across teams.
