Senior Software Engineer (Automotive Ethernet)

Location: Hybrid in Milford or Warren, Michigan, United States; expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Deploy test automation across physical and virtual Ethernet test assets, from single-controller benches to complete network models.
• Develop temporal-behavior and performance measurements for automotive Ethernet networks, including precise latency measurement and regression testing.
• Build automated validation for core elements across the full-stack Ethernet solution.
• Integrate software builds and system design artifacts with network test infrastructure to expand CI/CD system testing and regression pipelines.
• Evaluate functional and temporal behavior of gPTP, redundant gPTP, traffic shaping, and redundant communication.
• Assess new hardware and software solutions for next-generation vehicle architectures, including 10BASE-T1S networking, MCU/SoC networking IP, and Open Alliance TC18 solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience developing software and validating networks with Python, Rust, or C++.
• Knowledge of computer networking protocols, network architecture, communication standards, automotive Ethernet, TCP/IP, and SOME/IP.
• Experience with software development lifecycle and testing methodologies, network troubleshooting, simulation and analysis tools, and programming.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
• Experience with automotive Ethernet switches and 100/1000BASE-T1 and 10BASE-T1S networks.
• Advanced knowledge of data-link layer internals, Ethernet switch behavior, and communication software stacks.
• Experience testing and debugging Ethernet stacks including gPTP, UDP, TCP/IP, SOME/IP, DDS, and DoIP.
• Experience developing virtual models for embedded software testing and understanding automotive network hardware and software end to end.
