Senior Backend / Data Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote - Canada

Salary: CA$131,000–CA$164,000 annual base salary, plus equity and discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Own backend and data services end to end, from design and architecture through production operation.
• Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and streaming ingestion for high-volume security telemetry.
• Contribute to data modeling and warehouse/lakehouse architecture for detection, analytics, and product features.
• Develop TypeScript/Node, Python, and Go services on Kubernetes, including microservices and event-driven systems.
• Improve system performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineers, communicate technical solutions to leadership, and support AI-assisted development, testing, delivery, and observability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend and data engineering experience delivering scalable, high-performance systems.
• Strong programming skills in at least two of TypeScript/Node.js, Python, and Go, plus experience with microservices on Kubernetes.
• Production experience with ETL/ELT, streaming pipelines, workflow orchestration, and stream processing.
• Experience with data warehouses or lakehouses, analytical data modeling, and large-scale distributed databases.
• Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming systems, secure REST/GraphQL/gRPC APIs, AWS cloud-native technologies, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on knowledge of data quality, monitoring, alerting, lineage, Prometheus, Grafana, authentication, authorization, and secure handling of sensitive data.

Nice to have

• Experience with EDR or endpoint telemetry, network logs, SIEM data, Elasticsearch, penetration testing, or vulnerability assessment.
• Experience integrating LLM-based capabilities or AI features into production SaaS products.
