Senior Software Developer (Data Engineering)

Salary: $107,000 – $157,300 CAD

What you will do

• Design and operate scalable data pipelines, services, and delivery workflows in a cloud environment.
• Develop analytics-ready and AI-ready datasets using structured data models and governed access patterns.
• Implement production-quality code and infrastructure using CI/CD, automated testing, and observability practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineers to clarify requirements and deliver incremental value.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers through pairing, design feedback, and code reviews.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada (British Columbia).
• 5+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Scala, TypeScript, or Go.
• Strong experience with SQL, query optimization, and cloud-based distributed services.
• Deep understanding of observability, monitoring, and data quality signals for data systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS infrastructure and relevant data engineering tools.
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration, lakehouse/warehouse patterns, or large-scale object storage.
• Experience preparing data assets for AI/ML and LLM use cases.
• Knowledge of API architecture and SaaS data-handling security risks.
