Ground Software Solutions Engineer (Python)

Location: On-site in Golden, Colorado or San Francisco, California

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Own and maintain ground procedures, configurations, and automation software for specific programs and satellite missions.
• Design and implement non-recurring Cockpit features for physical and virtual mission customers.
• Collaborate with Solutions and Software Product teams to integrate capabilities and improve products.
• Troubleshoot software integration issues during development, end-to-end testing, commissioning, and operations.
• Participate in satellite operations and support spacecraft commissioning.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, or satellite-operations automation with meaningful software ownership.
• Strong Python experience building maintainable automation, tools, services, or operational workflows.
• Collaborative Git experience, including branching, code review, and maintaining changes over time.
• Ability to isolate root causes, evaluate trade-offs, and resolve software and integration issues.
• Experience with Docker and containerized development or deployment workflows.
• Experience working across multiple technical components or teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite ground systems, mission operations, spacecraft operations, telemetry, commanding, or mission planning.
• Experience integrating services, tools, configurations, APIs, or hardware/software interfaces.
• Familiarity with satellite scheduling, flight dynamics, orbital mechanics, or spacecraft operations.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD, automated testing, regression testing, or integration-test tooling.
• Familiarity with Django, GraphQL, Kubernetes, C++, Cue, or Linux.
