TL;DR
Staff Tutor in Film and Media (Film & Media): Developing and presenting an emerging online Film and Media curriculum while selecting, managing and developing Associate Lecturers, with an accent on blended learning, curriculum design and student support. Focus on organising face-to-face and online tuition, building student learning communities, and contributing to scholarship, research, diversity and widening participation initiatives.

Location: Homeworker role with required travel to Milton Keynes and other locations in the UK

Salary: £47,389–£56,535 per year

What you will do

  • Develop and present the School of Creative Industries’ emerging Film and Media curriculum and contribute to module teamwork.
  • Recruit, line-manage, monitor and support part-time Associate Lecturers teaching theoretical and practical creative modules.
  • Organise staff development covering face-to-face, online and correspondence tuition, and monitor feedback provided to students.
  • Coordinate blended-learning timetables, including day schools, online tutorials, forums and collaborative teaching activities.
  • Work with Student Support Teams and academic services to improve student progression, retention and success.
  • Contribute to scholarship or research, learning communities, equality and diversity initiatives, and widening participation activities.

Requirements

  • Honours degree in a relevant subject.
  • Film or TV industry experience demonstrated through a portfolio and recent showreel, including relevant production or media practice.
  • Management experience in teaching and student support within higher education or an equivalent setting.
  • Experience selecting, managing, motivating and developing Associate Lecturers, together with curriculum design and development experience.
  • Proficient IT and media-production skills using industry-standard software in film, streaming, social media and TV.
  • Ability to travel to Milton Keynes and other UK locations as required. Strong communication, organisation, administrative and data-management skills are also required.

Nice to have

  • PhD or MFA in film, media practice or a related subject.
  • Experience with online learning environments and innovative teaching methods.
  • FE/HE teaching qualification or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
  • Film or TV production credits.
