Research Scientist, AI

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid); future anticipated locations also include Redwood City, CA.

Salary: $214,000–$375,000 annually.

What you will do

• Build and advance frontier AI systems for biology and scientific discovery.
• Design novel model architectures and scale pre-training pipelines for biological foundation models.
• Develop post-training systems using reinforcement learning, reward modeling, reasoning, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Create evaluation frameworks grounded in biological outcomes and collaborate with scientists across the organization and wider scientific community.
• Contribute through research publications, open-source releases, and scientific collaborations.

Requirements

• PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience building and scaling deep learning systems, preferably in research-driven environments.
• Strong engineering and scientific fundamentals.
• Ability to work with ambiguity, rapidly iterate, and address loosely defined research problems.
• Strong communication skills for technical and scientific audiences.
