REx Engineer, OBD2 (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in Novi, Michigan, or Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular travel.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing electrified, digitally enabled pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with BEV and Harvester range-extender powertrains.

What you will do

• Support powertrain and drive-system integration for BEV and EREV pickup trucks and rugged SUVs.
• Define requirements, design functions, and calibrate the Scout-specific driving experience.
• Develop and optimize OBDII diagnostic calibration strategies, including readiness monitors, fault-detection thresholds, and DTC logic.
• Analyze data and conduct vehicle testing with INCA and MATLAB/Simulink across operating conditions and duty cycles.
• Collaborate with powertrain controls, software, validation, regulatory compliance, hardware, and chassis tuning teams.
• Coordinate prototype and serial development activities, including calibration trips, data collection, technical reports, and software releases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, technology, IT systems, or engineering technology; electrical engineering is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in concept engineering or serial development involving software-function calibration and validation.
• Experience with calibration tools including ETAS and MATLAB, test benches, vehicles, system integration, and release processes.
• Experience calibrating OBDII functionalities and evaluating OBDII failure simulations and associated emissions calibration.
• Ability to read and understand Simulink flow diagrams and C source code.
• Ability to work onsite 4–5 days per week in Novi, Michigan, or Charlotte, North Carolina, and travel as required.
