Manager of Drivetrain Test Engineering (EV)

Salary: $190,000–$250,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Build, lead, mentor, and grow a team of test engineers and technicians responsible for drivetrain validation and laboratory operations.
• Own priorities, resource allocation, and organizational capability across multiple vehicle programs.
• Define and execute validation strategies, including DVP&R, test specifications, schedules, and End-of-Line production test profiles.
• Develop test infrastructure, laboratory capabilities, equipment readiness, calibration, safety, automation frameworks, and engineering standards.
• Lead cross-functional validation with Mechanical Design, Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
• Review results, lead root-cause investigations, and drive corrective actions for design, manufacturing, supplier, and field-quality issues.

Requirements

• Proven experience building, leading, and developing engineering test programs and teams.
• Experience delivering complex electromechanical products from concept through production using structured validation methodologies.
• Deep understanding of EV powertrain systems, including motors, gearboxes, inverters, batteries, electromechanical actuators, and associated validation requirements.
• Extensive drivetrain testing experience across performance, durability, thermal, environmental, efficiency, NVH, and End-of-Line validation.
• Experience managing dynamometers, HIL systems, environmental chambers, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and laboratory equipment.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent tools, plus experience with failure analysis, root-cause investigations, DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, and requirements traceability.
