Principal Product Applications Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $165,000–$210,000 CAD per year, depending on experience, level, and business need. Discretionary bonuses, incentives, and benefits may also apply.

What you will do

• Lead technical engagements with hyperscalers, ODMs, AI system builders, and platform partners from architecture discussions through design-in, evaluation, and production deployment.
• Own on-site and remote platform bring-up, debugging, and performance tuning for Scorpio Smart Fabric Switch systems.
• Influence post-silicon validation plans and execute system-level integration for next-generation switching platforms.
• Debug issues across UALink, UCIe, PCIe Gen 6/7, signal integrity, firmware, and software stacks with hardware, firmware, and SI/PI teams.
• Translate customer requirements into feedback for product, silicon, and firmware teams and help validate new platform features.
• Author technical collateral, white papers, and training materials; mentor applications engineers and represent the company at industry forums and standards bodies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in product applications, systems engineering, or post-silicon validation involving high-speed connectivity or networking silicon.
• Strong understanding of physical-layer technologies and high-speed serial interfaces, including PCIe, Ethernet, UALink, UCIe, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory bring-up, debug, and system integration using scopes, BERTs, and protocol analyzers.
• Experience working directly with hyperscaler, cloud, or Tier-1 OEM/ODM customers on complex technical deployments.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical details in customer-facing materials and discussions.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with PCIe Gen 6/7, UALink, or UCIe protocols and compliance testing.
• Familiarity with AI/ML rack-scale architectures, GPU fabrics, and accelerator interconnects.
• Python or shell scripting experience for validation and diagnostics.
• Experience contributing to PCI-SIG, UALink Consortium, or UCIe standards work, or authoring technical publications.
