Electro-Optic Link Hardware Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; flexible hybrid workplace model.

Salary: $195,000–$250,000 USD per year base salary, plus equity and other rewards.

What you will do

• Lead verification and characterization of high-speed electro-optic links across silicon and system programs.
• Perform hands-on laboratory characterization and debugging of electrical and optical hardware, including novel failure modes.
• Build system-level electrical, optical, and electro-optic channel models and correlate them with bench measurements.
• Own link budgets and verification methodology while validating measurements.
• Characterize eye diagrams, BER, jitter, equalization, and channel impairments.
• Support silicon bring-up, root-cause analysis, architecture tradeoffs, automation, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in electrical engineering, photonics, or physics with 8+ years of experience, or BS/MS with 10+ years of experience.
• Experience owning verification strategy for a complete silicon or system program.
• Deep expertise in 56G/112G/224G+ serial links, SerDes equalization, CTLE, FFE, DFE, signal integrity, S-parameters, crosstalk, and link budgets.
• Hands-on laboratory experience leading difficult hardware investigations.
• Strong Python and MATLAB skills for team-used automation frameworks.
• Proficiency with VNAs, oscilloscopes, BERTs, TDRs, ADS, HFSS, Cadence, and COMSOL.

Nice to have

• Architecture-level experience with silicon photonics or electro-optic systems.
• Package, PCB, and channel co-design ownership.
• Experience with COM/IBIS-AMI modeling or contributions to OIF and IEEE 802.3 standards.
• Patents or standards contributions.
