Process Engineering Manager (Aerospace): Leading process engineering and documentation for solid rocket motor and energetic materials manufacturing with an accent on process qualification, production readiness, and operational standardization. Focus on developing engineers, enforcing process controls, applying Lean and Six Sigma, and sustaining qualified manufacturing processes under rigorous safety and regulatory requirements.

Location: Onsite in Pueblo, Colorado, United States

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 annual base salary

What you will do

  • Own and enforce documentation standards for SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, and operational systems.
  • Lead and develop a team of 5+ process and senior process engineers, supporting technical growth and knowledge transfer.
  • Manage the full process lifecycle from development and feasibility through qualification, production readiness, sustaining, and continuous improvement.
  • Define process controls, acceptance criteria, qualification requirements, and production readiness gates for full-rate production.
  • Enforce process compliance and lead decisions on deviations, nonconformances, corrective actions, and documentation integrity.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma improvements while reporting yield, defect rates, cycle time, and SOP compliance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree with 3 years of experience or 15 years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to process qualification, including process controls, qualification criteria, and production readiness documentation.
  • Experience authoring, standardizing, and governing SOPs, work instructions, and process specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, structured root cause analysis, and corrective action methods such as 8D, fishbone, and 5-Why.
  • People leadership or mentorship experience and the ability to enforce standards across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, and Compliance.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Pueblo, Colorado, meet U.S. government export-control eligibility requirements for ITAR-regulated technology, and satisfy applicable explosives-license and background-investigation requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing environments with regulatory requirements such as DFARS, ITAR, or AS9100.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
