TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer II (Propulsion) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Scaling production of propulsion hardware, including valve assemblies, tube fabrication, pressure vessel integration, and engine integration, with an accent on high-pressure fluid systems, cleanliness control, and manufacturing cadence. Focus on defining production processes, solving propulsion non-conformances, and building tooling and test capabilities for concurrent vehicle production.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Employment requires U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end manufacturing processes for propulsion systems, including valve assembly, tube fabrication, pressure vessel integration, and engine integration.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process travelers, and specifications for high-pressure fluid systems and propulsion hardware.
  • Improve propulsion build processes and production cadence across concurrent vehicle builds.
  • Implement cleanliness, contamination control, and propellant compatibility procedures.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for leaks, contamination findings, assembly defects, and other non-conformances.
  • Define tooling and test equipment requirements and collaborate with design engineering, technicians, and supply chain.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience with propulsion systems, fluid systems, or high-pressure aerospace hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with tube fabrication, tube bending, tube fitting installation, and high-pressure fluid system assembly.
  • Experience with propulsion cleanliness requirements, verification methods, contamination control, engineering drawings, P&IDs, and assembly models.
  • Strong first-principles problem-solving skills and experience driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Ability to regularly lift 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods while working with flight hardware.

Nice to have

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Fluid Mechanics, Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with launch vehicle, spacecraft, or hypersonic propulsion manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience with high-pressure testing, energetics, explosives, hazardous materials, or propulsion acceptance testing.
  • Knowledge of welding, orbital welding, machining, additive manufacturing, materials, and non-destructive evaluation methods.
  • Experience transitioning propulsion assemblies from development to production while increasing build rate.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive flexible PTO, 12 paid holidays, and 12 weeks of parental leave.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match and incentive equity.
