Research Associate, AI Research Wet Lab (AI)

Location: Redwood City, California, United States — onsite

Salary: $71,000–$89,000 annual base pay, with potential eligibility for a discretionary annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Contribute to experimental design and hypothesis generation with the AI research team.
• Perform biochemical and biophysical assays to characterize AI-designed proteins.
• Develop and execute assays for protein and cellular function.
• Design and perform plasmid construction in-house or through an external DNA provider.
• Document, analyze, and communicate experimental results.
• Interpret experimental findings with AI researchers and support future protein design cycles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with protein expression, purification, and biochemical or biophysical characterization.
• Experience culturing mammalian and/or bacterial cells.
• Experience with immunoassays.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, interdisciplinary, collaborative research.

Nice to have

• At least 1 year of full-time post-undergraduate research experience.
• Experience with molecular cloning, including Gibson and Golden Gate assemblies.
• Experience with biolayer interferometry or surface plasmon resonance.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled biomolecular modeling or design.
• Python or similar programming experience for experimental data analysis and task automation.
