Mechanical Integration Technician (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States; full-time onsite work, five days per week in the office

What you will do

• Build, modify, maintain, and test prototype autonomous vehicles, test platforms, and benches.
• Integrate mechanical and electrical components, including sensors, actuators, compute units, and power systems.
• Fabricate brackets, mounts, and custom parts using 3D printers, laser cutters, welders, and other rapid prototyping tools.
• Build and route wire harnesses, perform soldering and crimping, and troubleshoot electrical connections.
• Execute test plans, collect system performance data, and support in-lab and on-road testing.
• Collaborate with engineers on hardware integration and maintain a safe, organized prototyping garage and shop.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building or customizing vehicles, motorcycles, robotic systems, drones, or RC vehicles.
• Experience creating custom mechanical or electrical assemblies from scratch or adapting existing systems.
• Comfort using mechanical tools, electrical prototyping equipment, and basic fabrication tools.
• Understanding of vehicle systems or embedded electronics, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and sensor integration.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings, sketches, or verbal guidance and create parts in CAD; SolidWorks or NX preferred.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective in a fast-paced, hands-on prototyping environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in an R&D lab, automotive or motorsports shop, or hardware prototyping environment.
• Welding, machining or CNC, and composite fabrication experience.
• Exposure to autonomous systems such as LiDAR, radar, GPS/INS, cameras, or drive-by-wire systems.
• Familiarity with CAN, LIN, automotive diagnostic tools, Confluence, or Jira.
