Nuclear Engineer

Location: Los Angeles, United States; on-site

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity. Nuclear Engineer I: $120,000–$135,000; Nuclear Engineer II: $135,000–$165,000.

hirify.global is a Series C startup developing mass-producible, inherently safe, deployable nuclear microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.

What you will do

• Act as the responsible engineer for a key reactor component, such as reactivity controls and instrumentation, radiation shielding, fuels, materials, thermal hydraulics, safety, or licensing.
• Assist with neutronics modeling and simulations using MCNP, Serpent, or SCALE.
• Support multiphysics analyses covering thermal hydraulics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics.
• Participate in experimental validation, hardware demonstrations, and prototype testing.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on iterative reactor design tasks.
• Contribute to technical documentation and regulatory reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with neutron transport software such as MCNP, Serpent, or SCALE.
• Ability to work as part of a team while operating as a specialist or generalist in a growing organization.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. export regulations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or a similar programming language.
• Coursework or internship experience involving multiphysics modeling.
• Interest or experience in microreactors, heat-pipe-cooled reactors, or other advanced reactors.
• Experience in fast-paced project environments.
