What you will do

• Define and own compute engine architecture specifications, balancing performance, flexibility, power, area, and design complexity.
• Lead architectural exploration from early concepts through detailed specifications, coordinating with modelling, implementation, verification, and physical design teams.
• Specify execution units, memory hierarchies, instruction sets, and programming flows.
• Build and maintain performance models and simulators to guide architectural decisions.
• Partner with system architecture and software teams to optimise real-world application performance.
• Evaluate compact number formats, novel compute paradigms, and advanced packaging options while mentoring the team and representing compute architecture in technical reviews and customer engagements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Processor Architect, CPU/GPU Architect, or in a similar semiconductor or high-performance computing role.
• Deep knowledge of compute engine and processor architecture, including matrix- and vector-centric floating-point arithmetic and memory hierarchies.
• Strong understanding of RTL design flows, physical design constraints, and their impact on architectural decisions.
• Experience taking processor designs from early exploration through tapeout and post-silicon performance characterisation.
• Ability to define and manage performance and power budgets and navigate complex technical trade-offs.
• Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills across architecture, modelling, implementation, verification, physical design, and software.

Nice to have

• Background in AI acceleration, vector or matrix compute, or domain-specific processor design.
• Experience with gem5, SystemC, or custom cycle-accurate simulators.
• Familiarity with compiler and toolchain interactions and how software maps to hardware.
• Prior start-up or scale-up experience.
