Principal Project Engineer (Solid Rocket Motors)

Location: On-site in Penrose/Pueblo, Colorado, United States; travel up to 25% may be required.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 USD per year, base salary only.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end technical and programmatic execution for one or more solid rocket motor programs.
• Lead cost, schedule, technical performance, qualification, and production outcomes.
• Act as the primary customer and stakeholder interface, aligning requirements and managing expectations.
• Resolve complex engineering and program execution challenges using solid rocket motor expertise.
• Contribute to portfolio-level technical visibility and identify cross-program risks and dependencies.
• Mentor Project Engineers across technical and programmatic disciplines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, or a closely related engineering or science field with 10 years of combined experience, or 14 years of combined experience in lieu of a degree.
• Deep experience in solid rocket motor or energetics design, development, and manufacturing.
• Experience leading programs through qualification and into production with ownership of technical and programmatic outcomes.
• Experience managing complex defense programs with responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical scope.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility and ITAR compliance.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance and applicable explosives licenses is required.

Nice to have

• Experience leading multiple concurrent SRM or energetics programs.
• Hardware design, manufacturing, or systems engineering experience in defense, space, or aerospace.
• Experience setting technical standards or mentoring engineers.
