Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Redwood City, California; Los Angeles, California; or New York, New York. Travel to client sites is required as needed.

Salary: $168K–$252K base salary, plus equity.

What you will do

• Work directly with customers to understand workflows, constraints, and goals and define the underlying problem.
• Build production systems using APIs, models, and internal tools.
• Prototype, deploy, iterate, and maintain systems used with real customer data.
• Own projects end to end, from the initial customer conversation through deployment.
• Work around platform gaps and share recurring patterns with platform and R&D teams for productization.
• Use AI to accelerate implementation while applying engineering judgment to system design and reliability.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with software shipped end to end.
• Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose language, such as Python, TypeScript, or Go.
• Ability to work across the stack and learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

• Experience shipping real systems used by real users.
• High agency and strong prioritization when the core problem is not predefined.
• Comfort defining an approach in ambiguous environments.
• Experience working directly with customers and translating their needs into software.
• Ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
