Senior Staff UX Designer - Human Robot Interaction (Robotics)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; onsite work is expected, with travel to partner sites and regions of interest of no more than 10%.

Salary: $155,000–$185,000 base pay per year.

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and demonstrate novel robot interactions and expressive behaviors.
• Author and iterate on sound, movement, and lighting behaviors for real robots and simulation environments.
• Apply human-robot interaction and design research principles to guide HRI experimentation.
• Work with cross-functional partners to architect expression generation and control across robot systems.
• Track developments in human-robot interaction, sound design, motion design, and expressive robotics.
• Benchmark competitive products and research, translating findings into internal design artifacts.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in interaction design, human-robot interaction, sound design, motion or character design, or a related field.
• Experience designing expressive or communicative behaviors for physical products, robots, or characters.
• Strong understanding of human-centered design, interaction architecture, accessibility, and usability testing in complex or high-stakes environments.
• Software prototyping experience and the ability to explore rapidly through prototypes.
• Strong cross-functional communication, discovery, workshop facilitation, and synthesis skills.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
