Test Engineering Technician (Renewable Energy)

Location: Onsite in Portland, Oregon; relocation assistance is available if needed.

Salary: $105,000–$125,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Operate, maintain, upgrade, and help build large-scale mechanical test rigs and test systems.
• Maintain water and compressed-air infrastructure, including piping, pumps, filters, and water quality systems.
• Manage spare parts, tools, and supplies and coordinate procurement for test operations.
• Perform light fabrication, rig assembly, cable and harness work, continuity checks, and instrumentation calibration.
• Troubleshoot systems by tracing signals, identifying root causes, and running controlled tests to eliminate variables.
• Write and follow test procedures and maintenance documentation, then operate test rigs from the console after training.

Requirements

• Hands-on technical experience in an engineering, research, aerospace, automotive, industrial maintenance, automation, or capital-equipment environment.
• Experience working with mechanical or electrical engineering teams.
• Comfort operating overhead cranes and mobile elevated work platforms and working at elevation.
• Familiarity with lock-out/tag-out procedures and commitment to a clean and safe work environment.
• Basic fabrication, hand-tool, power-tool, precision-measurement, electrical troubleshooting, multimeter, and low-voltage instrumentation skills.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, test-procedure writing, and maintenance-documentation skills; willingness to train as a Non-Qualified Electrical Safety Worker.

Nice to have

• Soldering experience and ability to build cables.
• Ability to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Experience building or modifying test stands or ground support equipment.
• Experience with pressurized systems or data acquisition systems.
