Perception Engineer (Computer Vision)

Location: Onsite near Denver, CO or Long Beach, CA; U.S. citizenship and ITAR eligibility required

Base salary: $90,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive the architecture of image processing, object tracking, and pose estimation pipelines for the next generation of Jackal spacecraft.
• Design and implement perception, object detection, and tracking algorithms in C++.
• Perform statistical analysis for algorithm characterization and verification.
• Test and verify algorithms through software- and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
• Integrate perception algorithms into flight software in collaboration with the software team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, robotics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with C/C++ and Python.
• At least 2 years of experience implementing perception and tracking algorithms for real-world systems.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and solve complex problems using first-principles approaches.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
• Eligibility under U.S. ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or required U.S. Department of State authorization.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, robotics, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of professional experience writing high-reliability production C/C++ code.
• Expertise in SLAM, nonlinear filtering, image processing, object detection, computer vision, or pose estimation.
