MTS - Senior Validation Engineer (PCIe)

Location: Primarily onsite at the Santa Clara, California office

Salary: $180,000–$270,000 USD annual base salary; the role may also be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Define PCIe validation plans covering link training, lane width and speed changes, resets, hot-plug, surprise removal, error injection, power-management states, and recovery behavior.
• Execute Gen4, Gen5, and Gen6 link and protocol tests across platforms and system configurations, including abnormal and corner conditions.
• Develop and maintain automated PCIe test suites and frameworks integrating analyzers, exercisers, and Quarch-class tools.
• Triage regression, bring-up, and customer-scenario failures by correlating PCIe traces, NVMe/OCP logs, and system logs.
• Partner with firmware, hardware, and systems teams to identify root causes, verify fixes, and improve test coverage.
• Lead coverage improvements, standardize PCIe test APIs and reporting, and share PCIe debug best practices across products.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in SSD, storage, PCIe-centric validation or bring-up, or an equivalent embedded/high-speed I/O domain.
• Strong understanding of PCIe fundamentals and hands-on experience with PCIe analyzers and exercisers such as Teledyne/LeCroy or Keysight tools.
• Experience developing test and tooling software with Python or a similar language in Linux-based validation environments.
• Experience with CI and regression infrastructure, including Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
• Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and system boundaries, from symptom identification to validated root cause.
• Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
