TL;DR
Mechanical Technician (Aerospace): Building, integrating, testing, operating, and maintaining mechanical subsystems and fluid systems for the Neutron launch vehicle and its launch facilities with an accent on large-structure assembly, hydraulics, pneumatics, and precision mechanical construction. Focus on commissioning launch-pad fluid systems, troubleshooting mechanical issues, coordinating technician activities, and supporting demanding launch operations in varied field environments.

Location: Wallops Island, Virginia, United States; onsite launch-site work. U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR eligibility requirements.

Salary: $18–$35 USD per hour, plus potential stock or cash incentives.

What you will do

  • Fabricate mechanical subsystems for Neutron test and launch sites, with a focus on fluid-system fabrication.
  • Build, integrate, test, operate, and maintain the Neutron launch vehicle and ground-system assets.
  • Fit out, assemble, install, and commission launch-pad fluid systems.
  • Perform precision cleaning of critical components and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Lead or support daily activities for up to 3–5 technicians and help meet vehicle-integration and launch schedules.
  • Develop operational workflows and ensure work is completed on time and to quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in an aerospace, industrial, or relevant environment; 2+ years for Level II, 5+ years for Level III, or 8+ years for Senior level.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or fluid components.
  • Experience assembling large structures and mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of hand, power, and measurement tools used in mechanical construction.
  • For U.S. office work, eligibility under applicable ITAR requirements is required. The role also requires standing and walking for 8+ hours, working at heights and in tight spaces, lifting up to 25 lbs., and flexibility for extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts.

Nice to have

  • Ability to read and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom lifts.
  • Understanding of pneumatic, cryogenic, and/or hydraulic fluid systems.
  • Basic understanding of pressure, temperature, and flow instrumentation.
