Lab Manager (AI/Biotech)

Location: Redwood City, California, United States — onsite

Salary: $106,000–$133,000 base pay annually, with potential eligibility for a discretionary annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Oversee daily wet-lab operations, including housekeeping, inventory, supply restocking, and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor laboratory equipment and respond to sensor alerts to reduce downtime and protect experiments.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Manage chemical and biological inventories, segregation, compliance, and hazardous waste handling with EH&S and vendors.
• Identify operational and safety risks, recommend process improvements, and support long-term laboratory planning.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
• 5–8 years of relevant laboratory management experience.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, biosafety, and applicable regulations.
• Ability to lead programs and drive change across teams without direct authority.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in an ambiguous research environment.
• Collaborative, service-oriented approach and experience supporting scientific staff.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting multi-PI, multi-platform, or multi-site research environments.
• Experience with laboratory management software, inventory systems, or equipment monitoring platforms.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior laboratory operations staff.
