Shift Supervisor (Research Operations)

Salary: $118,800 - $182,400 USD

What you will do

• Own safe, reliable execution of automated lab workflows across shifts meeting quality and throughput targets
• Serve as technical lead for engineers on shift, providing guidance and workflow coordination
• Monitor run performance and system health, resolve common issues, escalate complex problems
• Manage accurate shift handoff documentation ensuring seamless continuity
• Flag QC/QA deviations promptly and document observations with high detail
• Partner with scientific, engineering, and automation teams to troubleshoot and improve workflows

Requirements

• Location: Must be onsite in Cambridge, MA, USA
• 3–5 years experience in lab automation, research operations, or high-throughput screening
• Experience operating and troubleshooting automated liquid handling platforms (e.g., Hamilton, Lynx, Echo)
• Experience leading and coordinating workflow execution in team settings
• Strong knowledge of scientific assay design, execution, and interpretation
• Ability to identify operational issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolution

Nice to have

• Degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, or related field
• Prior shift lead or supervisor experience in automated/high-throughput labs
• Experience with tech transfer, protocol improvement, and workflow validation
• Familiarity with QC/QA systems, deviation management, SOP development, Lean methodologies
• Experience with electronic lab notebooks (ELN), LIMS, or lab operations software
