Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, in-office five days a week. Candidates must be based in San Francisco or willing to relocate to the United States. Schedule: Monday–Friday with a very early morning start.

Salary: $140,000–$280,000 depending on experience, plus performance bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Own core infrastructure across databases, AWS services, networking, and CI/CD.
• Build systems for thousands of concurrent AI operations with sub-second response times and cost-efficient scaling.
• Design observability for system errors and silent business-level failures.
• Orchestrate parallel, non-deterministic agentic workloads and build infrastructure that evaluates AI output quality.
• Develop tooling and abstractions that improve product engineering velocity.
• Own reliability through SLOs, on-call operations, incident response, and post-mortems.

Requirements

• Production ownership experience at scale, including responding to pages and operating systems under real load.
• Depth in at least two areas: databases, AWS cloud infrastructure, networking, observability, or CI/CD.
• Experience designing retries, dead-letter queues, back pressure, idempotency, and other reliability mechanisms.
• Software engineering experience with a platform, infrastructure, or SRE focus.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Go, or a similar language.
• Production experience with AWS, Postgres, and observability tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience orchestrating AI/ML workloads at scale, including agent frameworks or LLM inference infrastructure.
• Voice AI or real-time systems experience.
• Deep AWS experience with ECS, Lambda, RDS, and VPC design.
• Prior startup experience, especially in hypergrowth environments.

Hiring process
