Payments Operations Specialist

What you will do

• Own the full dispute lifecycle, including intake, evidence preparation, representment, win-rate optimization, threshold monitoring, and escalation of at-risk accounts.
• Manage negative balance recovery through aging dashboards, cohort tracking, recovery-rate monitoring, and overdue-account outreach.
• Reconcile payment volumes, fees, reserves, and payouts across the payment platform, bank statements, and internal reporting; investigate discrepancies and automate recurring workflows.
• Monitor payment risk and fraud signals across connected accounts and coordinate account reviews, reserves, restrictions, and other risk activities with the payment provider.
• Maintain weekly risk dashboards and monthly KPI reporting as the source of truth for payments data, supporting financial close with the Controlling team.
• Build scalable SOPs, controls, audit trails, and knowledge-base documentation while partnering with Customer Care, Customer Success, Onboarding, Product, Finance, and the payment provider.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in payments operations, disputes or chargebacks, or merchant risk at a PSP, fintech, marketplace, or platform business.
• Hands-on experience with dispute lifecycles, including evidence submission, representment, reason codes, and win-rate optimization.
• Experience with connected-account or platform payment models such as Stripe Connect, Adyen for Platforms, payment splits, negative balances, and reserves.
• Strong reconciliation skills across processor reports, bank statements, and internal ledgers, with advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• SQL proficiency or a strong willingness to learn, combined with a data-driven, autonomous, structured, and proactive working style.
• Fluent English required. French, Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese is a plus.
